Downpipes, fascia and flashings
The details that keep a roof watertight: flashings around chimneys and walls, fascia boards and downpipes, fixed by a roofer who does them properly.
Get a roofer for thisFree for homeowners. One roofer, chosen for your area and this job.
Most leaks are not in the middle of a roof. They are at the edges and penetrations: a flashing that has rusted or pulled away, a fascia board that has rotted behind the spouting, a downpipe that is disconnected or undersized.
Describe what you have noticed. One roofer in your area who does this detail work gets your enquiry and calls you to arrange a look.
Signs you need this
- Rust or gaps at a chimney, parapet, skylight or where the roof meets a wall
- Rotten, split or sagging fascia boards
- Downpipes that are disconnected, leaking at the joins or overflowing
- Staining on the cladding under the roof edge
What the roofer will do
- Inspect the flashings, fascia and downpipes together, because they fail together
- Replace or reseal flashings, replace fascia sections, reconnect or resize downpipes
- Match colours and profiles to the existing roof
How it works with us
- You tell us the job. Where the house is, what you have noticed, how urgent it is, and a photo if it is safe to take one.
- A person checks it. Someone on our team reads every enquiry. We are not a form that forwards itself.
- One roofer gets it. A roofer who works in your area and does this kind of job. Only one, so you are not fielding ten calls.
- They contact you. Usually within a working day, to talk through the job and arrange a look.
Questions people ask
What is a flashing?
A strip of metal or membrane that seals the junction between the roof and something else: a wall, a chimney, a vent, a skylight or the roof edge. When a flashing fails, water gets in at that junction.
Is replacing fascia a roofer's job?
Yes, when it sits behind spouting it is usually done together with the spouting, by a roofer.
Can downpipes go into a different drain?
Sometimes, but stormwater connections have rules. The roofer will advise and will tell you if a drainlayer is needed.
